Need your help suggesting prizes
June 13th, 2008 at 09:13am by Mark Teskey
For Minneathlon 1.0, we gave away iPod Touches and iPod 3G Nanos for the race prizes and many other door prizes such as GPS units, external hard drives, cameras, etc.
We’d love input on what we should give away for Minneathlon 2.0 – both for the contestants and door prizes for non-contestants!
We’ve got a pretty good size gift budget – but we want to spread it around a lot. Also, gifts that require service plans (i.e. cell phones) are tough as well.
Please leave any prize/gift suggestions as a comment to this post.
Thanks,
-us.

Considering the price of gas, gas cards might be a good prize.
A little greener price would be a GoTo bus/train pass.
For the geek in all of us, an ASUS EEE PC 2G runs about $299 and a ASUS EEE PC 900 is $549 (newegg prices).
Power tools, arr arr arrh.

More ipods! Especially the nano. Or ipod accessories (nike+ running kit, dock). Wireless headphones.

Since the Boston team is going to win, how about dinner for four at a nice Boston restaurant, such as Nine Park Street?

considering the wide range of electronic gizmoes that people already have, and thus what they may be lacking to fill out their Geek portfolio, gift certificates to Circuit City and/or Best Buy
a cell phone jammer would be my choice, I am too lazy to build one http://www.ladyada.net/make/wavebubble/index.html
following up on that who couldn’t use a set of AA and/or AAA rechargable batteries and charger?
and to help people move from bottled water to from the tap, water purifier for home
and perhaps some Nalgene bottles to put it in
