I finally had enough time this weekend to finish post-processing and posting the pictures from Minneathlon v2.0. The photos in this gallery were taken by Mark Teskey, Jon Stone, Elizabeth Tilstra (Matt’s wife), and myself. Enjoy!

When they found their way to the correct location, they were asked to produce the answers to the challenge questions they were given when they left Kramarczuk’s. For each item they didn’t answer or answered incorrectly, the team had to complete one lap of a course of four croquet wickets.

There were many references to help teams find their way to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

Near Tyrone’s old home - reference to Tyrone Guthrie. The original Guthrie Theatre was next to the Walker Art Center.
inside a glass dome there lives a Standing Glass Fish - see the picture for the location of the Standing Glass Fish
Nearby lies a whimsical bridge on a Linden Seed Pond where many have made a wish - reference to the Spoon Bridge - see picture.

The red box shows the location of their challenge. There are 49 benches arranged in a square, with 7 on each side. Every bench has a unique quote on it, and from every bench we found a unique word. Teams needed to draw lines connecting the words. These lines make up letters which spelled the word ‘FAST’. See this pdf file for further details: Benches

Every team made it to the Sculpture Garden without issue, but the benches proved to be the hardest challenge of the bunch.

when properly decoded. There are many websites that can decode ROT13 or it can be solved by hand.

When teams arrived at Kramarczuk’s, they were informed that one team member must order and eat all of the food served with one of the sausages on the menu.

As indicated in this Wikipedia article for the University_of_Minnesota :

The university was chartered in 1851, but it did not begin enrolling students until 1857. The original Minneapolis campus overlooked the Saint Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River, but it was later moved about a mile downstream to its current location. The original site is now marked by a small park known as Chute Square at the intersection of University Avenue and Central Avenue.

The building now in that location is the Ard Godfrey House, which is the oldest surviving frame home in the Twin Cities.

Interesting Trivia - Joseph Nicollet is the namesake for this Trivia. Father Louis Hennepin is also of French origin. There is a Hennepin County, and a Hennepin Avenue, and Hennepin Island is the name of Xcel Energy’s hydroelectric plant. As far as I can find, there is no city or town by the name of Hennepin, MN.
